I currently operate out of College Station, Texas, but I am also open to weddings or special events in the Austin, Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth areas if my schedule permits. Being a student, I understand the importance of working within a budget, no matter big or small, and look forward to helping you make your big day special!

holy crap, i had no idea you had a company blog!! this is so awesome. seriously. i think you have a niche being able to do things cheaply for customers, being a student and all. keep it real, miss owen.

Aw, you’re a sweetie! I’ve been TERRIBLE about keeping it updated so I’m trying to do it more. Apparently clients really like it when vendors have a blog because they can see their personality more…so that’s what I’m going for….haha. By the way, I’ve been stalking your art and it’s amazing.

It’s been a while…

Okay so I’ve REALLY been slacking on keeping this sucker updated, so I’m going to do my best to start writing on here at least once a week for those of you who really care about what is going on with Flowers by Valery.

A few updates:

-I was planning on doing flowers for Valentine’s Day but between school, 2 jobs (not including flowers), my organization, wedding flowers and some attempt at a social life….it just wasn’t going to happen. I’m a little sad to be missing out on the insanity, but it’s probably for the best.

-I just got photos from the wedding I did in August and posted them to my website…pretty excited about those! I love being able to expand my portfolio. https://sites.google.com/a/flowersbyvalery.com/flowers-by-valery/slideshows

-Upcoming weddings in March, April, May, June, September (tentative), and November. Phew. Very exciting.

-I’m graduating in May! So now I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do. The plan as of right now is to keep doing weddings and (hopefully) get a part time social work position.

-Upcoming bridal show ON CAMPUS at Texas A&M the weekend of graduation. This is a brand new bridal show and will be my FIRST ever so I’m really excited about it. More details on that later (if you’re in the B/CS area, this is the one to go to…and not just because I’ll be there).

-Two of the weddings I’m working on for this year are actually friends of the bride from the first wedding I ever did. It’s been a really great experience working with both of them already, and I can’t wait to see how their weddings turn out!

I THINK that’s all I’ve got for now. Spread the word, like my facebook page, yada yada yada.

xoxo

Update!

I haven’t posted on here in a really long time…shame on me. There are TONS of exciting things happening!

1. I have an ad running on mywedding.com! The people there were so friendly and helpful in getting my ad setup, and they have a great site going so if you’re a bride-to-be, I really suggest you check it out! http://www.mywedding.com/austin/flowers

2. I have a wedding coming up THIS SATURDAY! I am so excited to do the flowers for two friends of mine, Sarah and George. It’s going to be a gorgeous vintage/romantic wedding in Downtown Bryan. I intend on taking LOTS of photos, so be on the lookout for those!

3. I am meeting with a couple in Houston to discuss a wedding in mid-September. (Yes I know, it’s coming up soon!)

4. I’m meeting with another friend of mine the first weekend in September to discuss her upcoming March wedding.

That being said, I am SUPER busy and school hasn’t even started! I anticipate that this school year is going to be the ultimate test of time management for me, but I can’t wait to see where my business goes!

Until next time!

Valery

A first attempt.

This is my first attempt at one of my FAVORITE floral trends…fruit in the vases! Typically people use lemons or limes, but I decided to go with grapefruit to match my coral roses. Unfortunately, the slices were HUGE and somewhat hard to deal with, so I think next time I will just stick with lemons and/or limes. Either way, I’m pleased with how it turned out!

What a steal!

I HAD to share this ridiculously good bargain. I will definitely keep this in mind for the next wedding I’m doing on a budget. Although I love pretty vases, I also think an inexpensive vase can keep the focus on the flowers. 12 vases for $12.00, and free shipping to the store? Yes please.

They have a few other vase styles on the website but this one’s the most basic and would probably be the most versatile.

Dahlias! Absolutely gorgeous. It’s a little tricky to get them in the right season, but when you do, they’re breathtaking.

Just kidding it came from this blog too.
What kind of flowers are these? I love the single Craspedia popping out of the top.

Update!

Well lots of exciting things have been happening here. This is really my first personal post on tumblr because it was initially started to be my “company website.” Over the last week I have really buckled down to become an official wedding/special events florist in the College Station area. I will be working from home, but I guess the vision is to (hopefully) open a storefront sometime.

I have filed the paperwork to get a Texas Resale Certificate, and this next week I’ll be sending in my Floral License paperwork. Today, I created a website almost completely by myself…I am actually really proud of how it turned out.

I also started a facebook advertising campaign. The nice thing about that, is I will actually be able to see how many people click the ad in facebook so I will know if I should continue using it. For now, I think that’s the only form of paid advertising I’ll be doing. Since I’ll (still….sigh…) be in school next year, I probably won’t have time to do TOO many weddings, but this should be a nice start. Ideally, I would like to do two more weddings this summer (I already have one in June and August lined up….very excited for both of those!)

I think that’s about it for now. Since I have an actual website, this blog is actually going to get used, to let people know what’s going on with this new endeavor.

SO excited about the future! :)

Put this together for a bride to show her what her centerpieces will look like. The actual centerpiece will use brighter colors, but this is all I could get from the shop without placing an order. Hopefully she likes it! 5-14-2011
